Clay Pigeon Shooting
in County Durham
Our club is situated at Banklands Quarry in Mickleton, County Durham, in the middle of beautiful Teesdale. The club is rapidly growing members with a range of ages and abilities using our clay pigeon shooting or air rifle facilities.
We have a wide range of shooting competition fixtures and throughout the summer we open every Monday evening. Throughout the winter we still have a hectic schedule of events but these are subject to weather to the local weather.
Our clay pigeon events include various disciplines of the sport and include Down the Line (DTL), Automatic Ball Trap (ABT) and Sporting.
We welcome any new or novice shooter looking to give shooting a try, and we open to new members. If you have any question feel free to get in touch.
Our Clay Pigeon Shooting FAQS
Opening times;
April to end of August, every Monday evening starts 6 pm with last entry at 8.30 pm. Exceptions are all bank holidays start at 4 pm.
September to end of March, start 12 noon and last entry 3 pm. Runs every 2 weeks see fixtures for exact dates.

Group sessions are available on request and are available for dates other than the Teesdale Gun Club fixtures.

The TGC do not offer a simulated grouse shoot, but do offer a "flush" type shoot. The club do try position clay traps that simulate a grouse in flight on their sporting layout.
Tuition is available on a 1 to 1 basis, all applications via the web site.
Teesdale Gun Club permit the use of semi-automatic shotguns, but only permit using 2 cartridges at any one time.
Full automatic/pump action shotguns are not permitted.
You must hold a valid shot gun permit to own a shotgun and purchase cartridges.
However you do not need a shotgun permit to shoot at the Teesdale Gun Club. You will be loaned a shot gun and cartridges and will be fully supervised at all times.
There is no age limit to come along to the Teesdale Gun Club to experience clay target shooting, for all juveniles full supervision will be given.
There is no upper age limit, this is totally up to the individual who would like to visit.
Teesdale Gun Club welcomes responsible teenagers who are keen to progress their skills using either a shotgun or air rifle, however the club is only open every Monday evening from beginning of April to August during the summer and every 2nd Sunday September to end of March.
Teesdale Gun Club do have air pistols they can loan out for those who do not own any equipment of their own, full supervision will be given.

Membership gives all members cheaper clays targets when shooting.
Members also get an edition of the quarterly news letter informing members of past and present news.
Membership is open for all who are in possession of a valid shot gun permit and show good shotgun and safety skill at the club ground when visiting.
Enquire at the reception and have your valid permit with you when joining.
Coaching is available, there are 4 Lantra trained shotgun coaches available to offer coaching on a 1 to 1 basis
No need to pre-book, the ground is open to members and non-members, report to the clubhouse on arrival and request to shoot clay targets.
